Stationary solutions of incompressible viscous flow in a wall-driven semi-circular cavity

چکیده

Stationary numerical solutions of incompressible viscous flow inside a wall-driven semicircular cavity are presented. After conformal mapping the geometry, using body-fitted mesh, Navier-Stokes equations solved numerically. The stationary in semi-circular computed up to Re = 24000. present results good agreement with published found literature. Our show that as Reynolds number increases, sizes secondary and tertiary vortices increase, whereas size primary vortex decreases. At large numbers, vorticity at centre increases almost linearly stating Batchelor’s mean-square law is not valid for flow. Detailed presented also tabulated future references benchmark purposes.

Wall-driven incompressible viscous flow in a two-dimensional semi-circular cavity

The main goal of this article is to investigate the capability of an operator-splitting/finite elements based methodology at handling accurately incompressible viscous flow at large Reynolds number (Re) in regions with corners and curved boundaries. To achieve this goal the authors have selected a wall-driven flow in a semi-circular cavity. On the basis of the numerical experiments reported in ...

Comparison of three different numerical schemes for 2D steady incompressible lid-driven cavity flow

In this study, a numerical solution of 2D steady incompressible lid-driven cavity flow is presented. Three different numerical schemes were employed to make a comparison on the practicality of the methods. An alternating direction implicit scheme for the vorticity-stream function formulation, explicit and implicit schemes for the primitive variable formulation of governing Navier-Stokes equatio...

Numerical Solutions of 2-D Steady Incompressible Flow in a Driven Skewed Cavity

The benchmark test case for non-orthogonal grid mesh, the “driven skewed cavity flow”, first introduced by Demirdžiü et al. [5] for skew angles of 30 D D and 45 D D , is reintroduced with a more variety of skew angles. The benchmark problem has non-orthogonal, skewed grid mesh with skew angle (D ). The governing 2-D steady incompressible NavierStokes equations in general curvilinear coordinates...

Numerical solutions of 2-D incompressible driven cavity flow with wavy bottom surface

In the present numerical study is devoted to investigate the lid-driven cavity flow with wavy bottom surface. The cavity upper wall is moving with a uniform velocity by unity and the other walls are no-slip. The physical problem is represented mathematically by a set of governing equations and the developed mathematical model is solved by employing Galerkin weighted residual method of finite el...
